How to convert files privately with Reformat

Follow a reliable conversion workflow and understand the privacy and fidelity trade-offs before you download the result.

Start with the file family

Open Reformat and choose the family that best matches the file you are working with. The family rail narrows the available source and destination formats. This is usually more reliable than looking for an all-purpose converter button because format families have different browser capabilities and output rules.

Check the detected format

Add the file, then review the detected type and confidence state shown in the file list. Reformat weighs signatures, structure, extension and MIME type where available. A file extension alone is not proof of file content, so pay attention to mismatch or unsupported-format notices before converting.

Choose an output and settings

Select the target format and review relevant options. Image outputs may expose quality, scaling and background settings. Audio conversions may expose sample rate, bitrate and mono settings. Spreadsheet and document conversions can preserve text and structure without preserving every visual detail, macro, chart or advanced feature.

Convert and verify

Run the conversion and download the output. Open it in the intended destination application and check the parts that matter to your task. Keep the original until you have confirmed the result. Complex documents and workbooks deserve extra verification because conversion is not the same as reproducing every proprietary feature.

Privacy and local processing

Files are handled by code running in your browser and are not uploaded by Reformat. Some optional behavior is constrained by browser support. The Learn area inside the tool contains a format encyclopedia, the conversion matrix and notes about current format limitations.
