How to record your screen with a webcam overlay

Set up a clear screen recording and avoid common permission and audio problems.

Prepare the recording

Open Record Studio and select the display or application window you want to show. Close private windows and disable notifications that might expose personal information. Choose a supported resolution that your computer can handle smoothly.

Add your webcam and microphone

Enable Camera Overlay, choose the camera, and position the overlay where it will not cover important interface elements. Select Microphone Only or System Audio + Microphone based on what your tutorial needs. Make a short test recording to confirm the audio before capturing a long session.

Record and export

Start recording, pause if needed, and stop when finished. Review the playback and metadata, then download the file. The recorder uses browser-supported formats, so the available export format depends on your browser.

Troubleshoot common issues

If capture is unavailable, use an up-to-date desktop browser over HTTPS. If the microphone meter does not move, check the selected device and browser permission. If recording becomes slow or fails, lower the resolution or frame rate and shorten the session.
